New Analysis of 99.2% of Auto Insurance Market Unearths Disturbing Conclusions About Auto Insurance Reform

Researcher will walk reporters through analysis and take questions during May 3 roundtable at Radisson Hotel in Lansing

LANSING, Mich.—(May 2, 2022)—More than two years after auto insurance reform, what do we know from public filings about how much has changed for Michigan drivers? Douglas Heller — director of insurance for the Consumer Federation of America, an independent consultant, and an appointee of the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance — will be available at a rare in-person event in Michigan. He will hold an exclusive media roundtable focused on the findings from his analysis of data representing 99.2% of the auto insurance market in Michigan.

Heller’s findings will provide answers to questions such as:

  • Did auto insurance reform address persistent pricing discrimination in Michigan?

  • Should insured drivers expect to see any rate increases in 2022?
